Travel - Fat Radish - New York

It has been on our side bar must do list in New York since forever,
but it was writing about The Leadbelly that made me realize that I haven't written about the Fat Radish.

There isn't a day that goes by I don't think about their dukkah on flat bread!!

Dukkah what?

Bought dukkah at Ottolenghi in London after I saw a recipe in their book.. and just had to have it!
Didn't know what it exactly was or what it tasted like, of what its uses for but the ingredient list sounded very promising!

So I played around with it,
but it wasn't until I tasted The Fat Radish Dukkah on Flatbread dish
that i had a Dukkah revelation!!!

Dukkah mixed with olive oil, salt flakes, flat bread,
It was like salty healthy nutella!!

Words cant descibe it!
But let me tell you!

Not a day goes by! Not a day!!

short recipe to make it
For the dukkah
70g hazelnuts, with their skins
2 tbsp sunflower seeds
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp dry green peppercorns (or white, as an alternative)
3 tbsp coriander seeds
1½ tbsp sesame seeds
½ tsp nigella seeds
½ tsp Maldon sea salt
1 tsp paprika

So exept for the dukkah ( that got me hooked in a sec) I actually love everything about this place!
Amazing dishes, seasonal, market to table vibe, beautifully decorated, great little touches here and ther ( a bike, those truckers cap, a fat radish as a starter and some great piece of artwork

Put this place down on your must do list!!

Travel much - La Maison Mere -Paris

When I saw an episode of Garance Dore at La Maison Mere in Paris.
The place looked so cute, it immediately went into my Paris bookmark folder.
La Maison Mere being right next to Hotel Amour, I kind of get sucked into Hotel Amour's backyard patio that I don't manage to leave and head to La Maison Mere.
But this time, it happened! I managed to steer clear and go straight into that cute white tiled restaurant!

great food!
taco's, burgers and chevice!
great cocktails!
the maison mere cocktail, a moskow mule, ginger beer..
and great sercive
our waiter was the sweetest!
He even knew one of my sweet spots... guacamolie!

of to Paris and give it a try!

Rockaway Taco pops up!!

woow!!

Can't believe it has been that long!
First time I've written about Rockaway Taco was back in October 2010!!
Ever since then, taking the subway from Manhattan to Rockaway has been on my must do list!
( once I even convinced a lovely sales guy at Ralph Lauren, who lived close to Rockaway Taco, and who even ate one the day before, to bring one back to the city for me. That was until hurricane Irene decided to mess up my perfect delivery plan!)

Yup and I never managed to get all the way over there!
Only open during summer time, that doens't give me a big time-frame to work with.

But now, luck on my side,...
in some casual browsing on the internet, it just happened The Sporting Project + Colette decided to open a Rockaway Taco Pop Up!!
And that, the weekend us girls decided to head to Paris for my late birthday brunch!

So you can only imagine what my brunch was.....
